Air Jordan 9 Low “Bred” brings back a classic player exclusive look for former NBA baller Derek Anderson, but it’s the snakeskin leather that highlights one of the shoe’s key design stories. From Air Jordan 6 through 8, Michael Jordan preferred a clean toe box without any extra leather. But those designs had run their natural progression and Tinker Hatfield needed to try something new. So, he wrapped a leather rand around the 9 and sold MJ on the idea. Calling it a rand somehow made MJ forget about his own preference. Tinker got his way and the Air Jordan 9 became one of the line’s most appreciated designs – even though MJ never wore it with the Bulls during his 1993-94 baseball run. (He did rock some cleats, though.) You’ll be able to pick up the Air Jordan 9 Low “Bred” on Saturday, April 16th for $170. Official photos below.
