String art began around the turn of the 20th century as a math teaching tool, and a few decades later gained popularity as wall art. Owls and prisms.

Then it found its way into the hands of some especially creative people like Chris Teguh – aka SoleStitches – who imagined Air Jordan 8 Aqua, Air Jordan 3 Black Cement, Air Jordan 4 Eminem Encore and other select kicks in this funky format.

The Aqua 8, for instance, was created with 450 nails, around which Teguh wrapped 400 yards of thread. The result is an intricate 3D rendering that nearly rivals the shoe itself in realism.
