The Next Air Jordan 1.5 Is Classic “Chicago”

Michael Jordan’s 1985 rookie season not only resulted in the NBA being put on notice of its next big star, it drew some fines for the Chicago Bulls. Jordan’s red and black Air Jordan 1 sneakers were simply not vanilla enough, which meant a violation of the league’s uniformity rule that Nike turned to an advantage with its “Banned” campaign. The colorway remains as iconic as ever 30 years on, and gets another retail release this month with the Air Jordan 1 High The Return. As with previous releases of this “1.5,” the upper layout is famiiar AJ1, while the sole is borrowed from Air Jordan 2 – a mix Jordan wore for a handful of games in 1985. Pairs are available early on eBay, with release day set for November 21.
