Michael Jordan‘s second return to the NBA officially began 14 years ago today on October 30, 2001, with MJ suiting up for the Washington Wizards to take on the New York Knicks for the season opener.
In 37 minutes, MJ scored 19 points with five rebounds, six assists and four steals, rocking Air Jordan XVII “College Blue” to execute his patented mid-range jumpers, fadeaways, and shrewd veteran jukes.
The Knicks prevailed, 93-91, thanks to Latrell Sprewell’s 28 points but it didn’t matter – Air Jordan was back on the NBA stage.
Check some game footage of that night below (apologies for TNT’s painfully corny opening; game starts at 1:50).
