Michael Jordan‘s partnership with McDonald’s was entering its heyday in the early 1990s, just as the superstar’s status was breaking worldwide along with that of his fledgling champion Chicago Bulls. That meant, among other more historically weighty things, that kids were getting MJ trading cards in their Happy Meals. And the cards weren’t just action shots. Each of this particular “Sports Tips” series from 1990 shows MJ executing a traditional basketball move on the front and explained the move on the back with pointers on how to replicate it on your own court. The nutrition tip tacked onto the bottom was more to serve MJ’s squeaky clean image than McDonald’s actually suggesting itself as a source of a healthy food. (We hope so.)
