One of the things an anniversary does besides trigger welcome celebrations is reflection on beginnings. Jordan Brand has much to look back on in this 30th anniversary year of the Air Jordan shoe, and it all starts with Air Jordan 1. We’ve seen the quintessential Air Jordan 1 “Bulls” release, and the Air Jordan “1.5” rarity MJ wore part time in 1985 on deck for this summer. But the Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard” really digs deep into the archives.

This colorway remembers an exhibition game Michael Jordan played during the 1986 offseason, wherein he shattered a backboard with one of his signature lean-in dunks. The black, white and orange in the uniform he wore that game becomes the look for this retro, done in the “Blacktoe” style and complete with a shattered glass graphic on each insole. You’ll get a crack at these at retail in just over a week on June 27th. Find the latest photos below and lets us know if you’re adding these to your rotation.
