Fourteen years ago today, Ray Allen had his shooting stroke dialed up to the tune of nine three-pointers in a must-win Game 6 for his Milwaukee Bucks against the visiting Philadelphia 76ers.
Clad in a pair of Air Jordan XVI – with the off-court accessory gaiter on* – Ray went for 41 points on 12 of 15 from the floor, including a record 9 of 13 from three-point range, to pull the Bucks 3-3 in their best-of-7 Eastern Conference Finals series. The Sixers would take Game 7 at home, 108-91, to advance to the NBA Finals but Ray’s performance remains one of the most memorable of the 2001 season.
Watch Ray get down in the video below:
*Jordan Brand placed a sticker inside the Air Jordan XVI box top that details a four step process to apply the stylish gaiter to the shoe. Ray got that part down but it’s the label’s lead-in warning he apparently chose not to follow:
The Jordan magnetic gaiter is a pre game and post game alternative shoe cover. Not recommended for use during game play.
