Coming into 2015, the 30th anniversary of Jordan Brand’s roots, it was a foregone conclusion that Air Jordan 1 would figure prominently in the release schedule festivities. We just didn’t know to what extent or execution. These just-surfaced Air Jordan 1 “Rare Air” colorways shed new light on that subject, indicating a special release series for Jordan Brand’s founding sneaker.

Among the spread are flat black- and grey-based tumbled leather options, each with completely white soles, and two elephant print that take on more expressive leather canvases. Beyond this first impression, the Rare Air details start to come to light – Air Jordan stamping at the ankle, the requisite Rare Air removable patches on the tongue (as seen here), and textile touches on the inset spaces throughout the shoe.

We’ll keep track of the Air Jordan 1 Rare Air releases and report new details as they happen.
