The Daily Jordan: Air Jordan X “Steel”- 1994

April 2nd, 2015 By

In our latest Daily Jordan installment, we remember Air Jordan X in its White/Black-Light Steel Grey outfit.

It’s a favorite now but this colorway released in November 1994 without a lot of hubbub. Actually, little to no hubbub. Michael Jordan was already one year into chasing down his baseball aspirations, the Chicago Bulls were stepping into uncharted territory with Scottie Pippen as top dog, and the Air Jordan sneaker line was dead to many folks. Irrelevant.

Scottie Pippen Tweets His ’90s Michael Jordan Memories & More

March 18th, 2015 By

With today marking 20 years since Michael Jordan’s “I’m back” NBA return, Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen decided to wax nostalgic on Twitter this evening.

So far Pip has touched on everything from Jordan’s 1993 retirement – “I’ll always remember how shocked we were” – to MJ’s baseball hiatus – “We didn’t talk all that often” – to the 1995 playoff loss to Orlando – “He took it hard” – and many more insights.

Between 1990 and 1998, Jordan and Pippen led the Bulls to six NBA titles in eight seasons, forming perhaps the greatest one-two punch in sports history.

Jordan Brand Quai 54 Tournament 2014 – Event Recap

June 26th, 2014 By

Jordan Brand continues to expand globally, and their annual Quai 54 Tournament is one way to give back to the roots of basketball by holding an outdoor, 16 team tournament with players from around the globe. After an unexpected break last year, the tourney returned to Paris, France and featured some competitive basketball on the playground with a ton of looks from both the Swoosh and Jumpman, particularly by the Jordan Melo M10. Carmelo Anthony and Scottie Pippen even showed up to judge the Slam Dunk Contest (which may or may not have gone against the whole “Bring your game, not your name” slogan that the tournament so proudly sported) but was a great gesture nonetheless. Be sure to check out the entire recap courtesy of Street Rules and get more event recaps right here on Jordans Daily.

The 2014 Quai 54 tournament featured sixteen teams from all over the globe in an effort to bring a lens to the importance of outdoor pick-up basketball in every culture. Michael Jordan Teammate Scottie Pippen Honored With Statue At United Center

April 13th, 2011 By

Scottie Pippen, the long-time wingman of Michael Jordan and fellow six-time NBA champion, was honored with a bronze statue that featured a painted jersey, armband, and hair. The unveiling of the statue occurred during halftime of Chicago’s match-up against the Boston Celtics on April 7th, and will continue to be on display at the United Center for all of the stadium’s events. Pippen’s departure from Chicago wasn’t particularly friendly, as he had a rocky relationship with then Bulls GM Jerry Krause, but his return to Chicago was a welcome one as he was named by now-GM John Paxson as ‘team ambassador’. Pippen’s doing something right, because the Bulls are currently atop the Eastern Conference and look to add a seventh Championship banner this June. via Yahoo!.
