The University of Oregon football team continues to earn all the various goodies seeded to them by Nike INC., shredding up the PAC 12 and enjoying the spoils, the latest of which being the Air Jordan IV ‘Oregon Ducks’ pictured above. The sneakers look to be a special release seeded only to team members, with the existing shots coming from affiliates of the Oregon Ducks squad. If it wasn’t for Tinker Hatfield, there would be no Jordan Brand. His innovative and unique Air Jordan III convinced Michael Jordan to stay with Nike and not sign with another shoe company. His work on the Air Jordan signature line is what he is known for by sneakerheads, but did they know that the Architect is an alumnus of the University of Oregon? He graduated from their School of Architecture and Allied Arts and despite working on shoes for a North Carolina grad, he still reps his colors every now and then. Yesterday at the Air Jordan 2012 media launch, Hatfield was seen wearing the Air Jordan III ‘Oregon Pit Crew’ which was made for the Ducks student section. There are only 500 pairs in existence and these are just one of the many rare pairs of Jordans that he owns. This Monday, the Oregon Ducks will take on the Wisconsin Badgers in the Rose Bowl and when they do, they’ll wear brand new uniforms. When they do, they’ll also wear brand new cleats made just for the game. Before they wore the Nike Air Zoom Alpha Talon, some members on the team wore the Air Jordan Jaq D. This particular pair comes in the university’s colors of yellow and green with a predominantly black upper. The Ducks’ ‘O’ logo is featured on the tongue and the rear of the shoe. The Oregon Ducks will take on the Wisconsin Badgers next week in the Rose Bowl and given Nike’s special treatment of the program we can expect them to wear something special for the game. Being affiliated with Nike is a good thing, but being the alma mater of Nike’s founder is a great thing. The Oregon Ducks football program has greatly benefited from their association with Nike over the last decade as they have been picked to test new technology in the form of uniforms and equipment. McBride’s sneaker connections are pretty strong, so its highly unlikely he had to hit eBay to get a pair like the rest of us. When the year ends, the Air Jordan III ‘Black Cement’ will be on many top 10 lists and rightfully so, but let’s not forget about the III that garnered interest from all corners of the sneaker community. The Air Jordan III ‘Oregon Pit Crew’ was commissioned by Nike and Tinker Hatfield to honor the Oregon Ducks’ student section, the Pit Crew. 500 pairs were produced and its circulation began during Oregon’s Matt Knight Madness. More pairs would be raffled off throughout the season to the Duck faithful along with Pit Crew jackets. A lucky University of Oregon student managed to get both the shoes as well as the jacket and did what most college students would do, put them up for sale. The Air Jordan IIIs designed for the Oregon Ducks was the hot topic in the last month around the sneaker community. One of the pairs was the ‘Home’ PE which features a clean white upper unlike that of the ‘Oregon Pit Crew’ edition. This pair in particular was autographed by former Ducks receiver Jaison Williams and according to the seller he was involved in the designing process. The Oregon Ducks kicked off their 2011-12 basketball season during the Matt Knight Madness event held this past Friday night. This event was one of the more anticipated MM events due to the fact that 10 pairs of the Air Jordan III ‘Oregon Pit Crew’ were raffled off.
