The festivities continue as the Jordan Brand Classic sets up in Charlotte for the weekend, with the players that were invited out for the showcase getting settling in and seeing the sights a bit. Aside from the obvious practice drills they’ve been running they spent a little time getting familiarized with the Michael Jordan Motorsports branch of Jordan Brand, visiting team driver Denny Hamlin’s homebase for some demos. The players also sat down for an NBA 2K12 tournament that may prove prophetic for the weekend, with Nerlens Noel emerging as the champ. As the Jordan Brand Classic goes down this weekend you can expect the kicks on court to be all-things Jumpman. The main event will of course feature some special colorways of the Air Jordan 2012, but even today’s practice sessions have the players laced up in pairs to match their respective team colors with these two versions of the Jordan Play in These II. The sneakers are marked as a general release for April on the Jordan Brand calender, but are likely inspired by the JBC given the obvious color comparisons. The festivities are officially underway for this year’s Jordan Brand Classic weekend out in Charlotte, NC, where athletes and media members alike have gathered for the annual showcase. Kicking things off was an orientation in the so-called Gold Room, a space designed to celebrate previous MVP’s and also set the tone for this year’s game. Already making headlines from the event were a few college decision announcements, with Shabazz Muhammad and Nerlens Noel committing to UCLA and Kentucky, respectively. For all of us who won’t be making it out to Charlotte, NC to catch the future stars on display at this year’s Jordan Brand Classic we can still pick up the accompanying footwear. Said footwear is two separate colorways of the Air Jordan 2012, with the West squad lacing up in the team orange and East repping the university blue. The NBA All-Star season may have ended, but the high school basketball All-Star season is just beginning. In the coming months we will see a variety of All-Star games ranging from the McDonald’s All-American Game to the Jordan Brand Classic. In April, the nation’s best high school players will converge on the Time Warner Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina to show Michael Jordan what they are made of. The shoe of choice for this year’s game is the Air Jordan 2012 and now we have a look at what the East All-Stars will wear. Their edition of the 2012 comes in a University of North Carolina colorway as it features a University Blue upper with a Navy Blue midsole, inner lining and laces. Earlier today, we took a look at the Air Jordan 2010 that was made for the Western All-Stars of the Jordan Brand Classic and now we have a look at what was made for the Eastern squad. Like the 2010s for the West, these were also never worn or hit stores. This colorway features a North Carolina colorway as it features a White/University Blue upper with a Metallic Silver inner lining.
