Originally looked at as part of Jordan Brand’s November 2011 releases were the Jordan Big Ups and today, they are now available. The Jordan Big Ups is one of the few shoes from Jordan Brand to make use of a full length Max Air unit, but according to designers it serves a purpose. Placed in the “Explosive” silo along with the Jordan Melo M8, the Jordan Big Ups’ Max Air unit provides the best protection and cushioning for players who’s game relies on aggression. Among the sneakers revealed by Jordan Brand at the Nike World Headquarters last month was the Jordan Big Ups. This shoe has already released in Team Orange/Anthracite and will also drop in the ‘Bred’ colorway for the Holiday 2011 season. In addition to being slightly reminiscent of the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’ these also feature Max Air cushioning for a soft landing when coming down from a vicious slam on your opponent. Earlier this week, some of the most influential bloggers were invited to the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon for the Jordan Brand Flight Forum; an official unveiling of the brand’s Holiday 2011 collection. The event focused on the brand’s marquee athletes, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. Jordan Brand launched Fly Over, Fly Through and Fly Around, a new campaign that spins off of the idea of Flight. The moment that everyone was waiting for had finally arrived, the official unveiling of the Jordan Fly Wade 2, Jordan Melo M8 and Jordan CP3.V which fit into the respective “Fly” categories. Other basketball releases such as the Jordan Big Ups and Air Jordan 2011 A-Flight were included in the presentation.

After the presentation, members of the press were taken to the Bo Jackson Gymnasium where they were put through a rigorous wear-test session. The Melo M8 was used in warm up drills and Sparq Training tests, followed by the Jordan CP3 2′Quickwhich was used for speed drills and the Jordan Fly 23 was used for one on one drills with attendees. To conclude the session, the attendants picked what shoe felt best to them during full court scrimmages to emphasize the fit and feel for any body type regardless of playing style. The use of Max Air in Jordan Brand isn’t a new concept as we have seen it for over a year now with the CMFT series and now it finds itself being used in the Jordan Big Ups. Last week, we took a look at the Anthracite/Varsity Royal colorway of the Big Ups and today we have a look at three additional colorways that are scheduled to drop between now and November. The most notable of the colorways are the Big Ups in Black/White-Varsity Red. The black patent leather in combination with the red outsole and full length Max Air unit give it an Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’ feel. Wear testing is one of the most important things in the production of a sneaker as the brand manufacturer gets to find out the shoe’s durability amongst other things. From there, the shoe companies receive feedback from those who wore it on how to improve the product. The Jordan Take Off as it was called then bears a striking resemblance to the Jordan Big Ups as it is named now. The Jordan Take Flight was the first shoe from Jordan Brand to make use of full length Max Air and since then has appeared on the Air Jordan 2.0 and now the Jordan Big Ups. The Jordan Big Ups makes use of  nubuck, textured materials and a splatter paint pattern to complete the upper. Additionally, the outsole is similar to that of the one used on the Air Jordan 2.0.
