The Charlotte Bobcats Draft Biyombo and Walker

The made headlines earlier on draft day by trading Stephen Jackson, Shawn Livingston and the 19th pick for Corey Maggette and the Bucks’ 9th pick. It all worked out for the best as Rich Cho drafted Bismack Biyombo and with the 7th and 9th picks respectively. Biyombo played in Spain last season but turned heads at the Nike Hoop Summit where he recorded the first triple double in the event’s history. He is a tenacious defender and a presence on the inside, something the Bobcats desperately needed.

If you haven’t heard of Kemba Walker by now, you might be living under a rock. Walker took the nation by storm during the Big East Tournament and NCAA Tournament and was named NCAA Tournament MOP after his UConn Huskies won the national championship. He brings leadership to a team that needs it and has been compared to Chris Paul with his ability to get to the basket and dish the rock. To complete their draft, the Bobcats selected Jeremy Tyler in the second round. Overall, the Charlotte Bobcats had a successful draft that addressed their needs.

Michael Jordan & Charlotte Bobcats Prepare for 2011 NBA Draft

Now that the Lottery has come and gone, its time to look at the ’ needs. Unfortunately for Michael Jordan’s franchise, they didn’t land the #1 pick as that, along with the #4 pick, went to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Bobcats need help especially in the frontcourt and with Arizona PF Derrick Williams likely to go into the top three, they’ll have to look elsewhere from the talent pool. At the ninth pick, Kansas PF Marcus Morris would be a solid selection as he has the ability to stretch the floor and rebound. With the nineteenth pick, if Jordan Hamilton is still on the board, its a great pick as he is one of the best scorers in the draft and as a rebuilding franchise, you can put pieces around him. To see what Jordan does, tune into the NBA Draft on June 23rd.
