Air Jordan XVI Low Retro: Black – Gym Red – Stealth | Unreleased Sample

There’s another Air Jordan XVI Low Retro floating out there, adding to the numerous unreleased colorways that have been popping up for the last year or so. Originally planned for widespread release in Fall of 2012 Jordan Brand apparently pulled the shoe, and now we all patiently wait for further word. Following all black, stealth/wolf grey, and white/red versions, today we see another sample of what could have been in a black/gym red color. More from the retro that never was-the Air Jordan XVI. This time around the pair to pop up is of the low persuasion and sports a rather simple bulls combination of varsity red and white. As you can see on the inside tag, the sneaker was marked as a Fall 2012 release, a season that would have been jam packed with this late era MJ shoe had all gone according the plan. Air Jordan XVI Low: “Stealth” – Unreleased 2012 Sample

The Air Jordan XVI that never happened continues to be teased out via the various samples floating around on the internet. Shown here is the Air Jordan XVI Low once again, featuring a stealthy sort of colorway that almost looks to be borrowed from the Air Jordan V ‘Wolf Grey’ thanks to that crinkled nubuck panel. Samples of the scrapped Air Jordan XVI re issue continue to haunt the eBay listings, reminding us all of what could have been in terms for what would have been the most recent retro to date. This pair is one of the low variety and grabs a grey look that is somewhat reminiscent of the Air Jordan V ‘Wolf Grey’ thanks to the crinkled nubuck pieces on the upper. Air Jordan XVI Retro – Unreleased Fall 2012 Samples

It looks like the Air Jordan XVI retro just wasn’t meant to be. For what it’s worth though, Jordan Brand absolutely did crank out some sample versions with hopes of bringing the sneaker back to the market in the modern era. Shown here are three such samples, including one Air Jordan XVI Low and three proper Air Jordan XVI pairs. Air Jordan XVI Low – Unreleased 2012 Retro Sample

You can blame Ray Allen for the latest round of speculation regarding the return of the Air Jordan XVI in retro form. When he broke out a PE pair for his first ever game with the Miami Heat folks were quick to wonder whether or not that appearance would signify future retail availaibility. That hasn’t panned out so far, but it looks like it might have been in the works. Shown here is an Air Jordan XVI Low created for the Fall of 2012 that never made it to retail.
