Dropping in October of 1998, the pair was sort of a pump fake for the retail crowd, suggesting that the slightly different Air Jordan XIV design as debuted by MJ in the NBA Finals earlier in the year would be reserved for him and him only. Of course that wasn’t the case, with the release eventually pumping out plenty of both styles. The Air Jordan XIV is one of the models in the legacy series lineup with a distinct inspiration, its overall shape and design borrowed from the body of the Ferrari F550 as a nod to MJ’s love of sports cars. That inspiration was recently reversed at this Jordan Brand event out in China, wherein a Ferrari was on display that was built to resemble that very sneaker, with a rather ‘Last Shot’ colorway in place along with various Air Jordan details. Among the various Air Jordan XIV colorways out there it seems that the blue based pairs seem to end up the rare ones more often than not. The nebulous Air Jordan XIV Tar Heels PE that slipped out to retail remains a tough find, joined now by the likes of the white and blue Air Jordan XIV Low pictured here. The pair takes on the wiped look on the side, not quite seamless but still losing the swooping lines of the original design.
