Sneaker News Presents: An Art Gallery Made of Air Jordan Scraps

The Air Jordan XX9 debuted yesterday in an onslaught of first looks, samples and more at a launch event in New York City, and Jordan Brand rolled out all of the stops to make sure everyone knew that the silhouette fit right in with their history of innovation. As part of the event, JB decorated the walls with metal plated spare parts of their signature sneaker like from numbers 1 to 28. Each framed layout featured a look a the spare parts of each signature Air Jordan broken down from the sole to the side panels in full glory. The Air Jordan 14 has yet to return to store shelves just yet for 2014, but the 20th anniversary of a silhouette usually warrants some special treatment from the Jumpman and MJ’s last championship-donning sneaker is no exception. The first installment of the shoe worn during the infamous “Shot” won’t be a traditional colorway either, as Jordan Brand takes aim at the Air Jordan 4 “Thunder” for inspiration with this black and vibrant yellow look that definitely makes the Ferrari theme even more obvious this time around. The Air Jordan 14 was the last sneaker MJ laced up in his pursuit of a sixth championship. And while all of Mike’s shoes are designated to get hit with that classic black and red, it’s always interesting to see new schemes adapt. The 14th signature took notes from Mike’s favorite Ferrari so it makes sense that the shoe would look good in a bright yellow look with the Air Jordan 14 “Thunder”. Inspired by the Air Jordan 4 “Thunder”, the shoe sees a black nubuck hit the upper while accents of vibrant yellow contrast on everything from the midsole to the heel and branding. A Detailed Look at Fall 2014s Air Jordan Retros

We’ve seen a plethora of detailed images of upcoming Air Jordan Retro releases for Fall 2014 over the past weeks, mainly due to official leaks of the shoes through Jordan Brand’s recent photo spree. With six new looks for the Fall season, Jordan Brand plans to bring back the “Sport Blue” Air Jordan 6 in a big way with additional  models like the Air Jordan 14 and Air Jordan 3 getting a similar look. The Air Jordan 14 was a surprising addition to this year’s Retro line up and the sneaker will receive at least three brand new colorways this year, in the “Sports Blue” referencing scheme and this Air Jordan 4-borrowing pair. The last sneaker Mike wore in a Bull’s uniform, the shoes feature a mostly black construction while a Vibrant Yellow holds down the accent duties. Celebrate July 4th with the Air Jordan 14 Retro Thunder

The Air Jordan 14 “Thunder” will arrive at retailers on July 4th, 2014. The shoe takes its inspiration from the Air Jordan 4 “Thunder” and while we won’t get a “Lightning” edition of this shoe, we’re definitely looking forward to the classic colorway being reused on the Ferrari-inspired silhouette. With a black base, the shoe gets a healthy dose of Vibrant Yellow on the shark teeth and midsole while grey accents appear on the sole. What do you think of this upcoming Summer release? Jordan Brand continues to reinvent new colorways atop retro models by borrowing from the lineage of old. Take, for instance, the “Sport Blue” scheme that we’ve seen throughout this past week arriving on the likes of the Air Jordan 3 and Air Jordan 14, or the infrared hue arriving on the Air Jordan 3 earlier this year. Now it looks like that classic “Thunder” scheme first found on the Air Jordan 4 will make its way to the Air Jordan 14 for a festive July 4th release. The Air Jordan 14 Sport Blue Arrives in August

August will be all about “Sport Blue” transitioning into Fall for Jordan Brand as three retros will don the infamous Air Jordan 6 colorway as it returns to store shelves for the first time since its original release in 1991. To help matters, the Air Jordan 3 “Sport Blue” will release mid-month, and we have the Air Jordan 14 “Sport Blue” leading things off. While the shoe opts for a wolf grey as the main accent – something the other two shoes don’t do – there is minute sport blue detailing on the Jumpman branding throughout.
