Air Jordan IV Cavs: The Mold

A little bit of wear and tear on a vintage pair is to be expected, but beat up out of the box? That’s what happened to the unlucky Matthew McGnarly, who went out looking for a pair of the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ last weekend and came home with the unfortunate pair you see here. Purchased from a Champs retail spot, both shoes were heavily speckling with a nasty film of mold. Is this a contained occurence or have you ever heard of such a strange fate falling on a fresh out the box pair of Air Jordans? Let us know in the comments below.

Air Jordan IV: Cavs Sneaker Cake

Somewhere, while sneakerheads worldwide queued up to grab the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’, Craig Ehlo sat miserably devouring this very cake right around the 23rd anniversary of ‘The Shot’. OK that’s not entirely true, as the red velvet laced treat seems to instead be part of a birthday celebration for a consumer keen on these just released ’s. Take a full look after the jump (edible $100 bills and all) and lake us know what you think of this latest sneaker cake from Made Fresh Daily Cakes in ATL.

Air Jordan IV: ‘Cavs’ – NOT Releasing on NikeStore Online

Air Jordan IV: Cavs NOT Releasing on NikeStore Online

This past month has seen quite a few changes with the way Nike launches big ticket items, presumably a response to the growing problems of crowd control and massive lines forming at retail spots nearly every weekend. Their latest move seems to aim to take some of the stress off their online retail spot, as this weekend’s anticipated release of the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ will not be available via NikeStore online. Also unavailable online will be the four Jordan CP3.V styles launching tomorrow, May 9th. Let us know in the comments what you think of the switch up and remember to make it out to a physical location for your best chance at any of these styles.

May 7th, 1989: Michael Jordan Hits ‘The Shot’ Over Craig Ehlo

May 7th, 1989: Michael Jordan Hits The Shot Over Craig Ehlo

23 years ago today a then ringless Michael Jordan threw up one of those shots that promised to the world that he had what it took to become a champion. Of course most probably wouldn’t have predicted he’d become a champion six times over, but that’s what you get for doubting Michael Jordan. It was May 7th, 1989 and the Cleveland Cavaliers had managed to stick around for game five of the series, with the Bulls firmly in control despite being a 6 seed to Cleveland’s 3. Chicago had some elbow room being up 3-1 and all but Michael Jordan decided to put the game and the series away with a buzzer beater, floating up over Cleveland player Craig Ehlo with just two seconds on the clock to nail ‘The Shot’, tipping the scales in Chicago’s favor with a nail biting 101-100 victory.

As you no doubt know by now, Jordan Brand is celebrating the anniversary with an all new colorway of the , set to match with the Cleveland Cavaliers colors of old. The Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ will hit stores this Saturday, May 12th. Stay with us after the jump for a nostalgic video of ‘The Shot’ as well as some in game photos and a look at the upcoming Air Jordan IV, which can be had a little early on eBay now. Air Jordan IV: ‘Cavs’ – Arriving in Stores

Air Jordan IV: Cavs Arriving in Stores

Earlier on we pondered whether or not the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ would hit stores while the New York Knicks were still around for the post-season allowing a player to grab them for the matching fit. Even though it’s looking like that won’t be the case, Jared Jeffries jumped the gun and laced up in them for Game 1 over the weekend. The rest of us still have a bit of a countdown to endure before their May 12th release, which we’re hoping is made a bit easier but these new shots. Click through for the photos and lookout for these next Saturday at retailers like Social Status or you can always go the early route and see what eBay has to offer.

Air Jordan IV: Cavs Official Images

It’s a bit strange to dedicate a sneaker to a squad specifically for the dominance Michael Jordan showed over them, no? For Craig Ehlo and co. this will likely serve as a painful reminder of those days, but for the rest of us they serve as an all new colorway that ends up with quite a bit more color than we’re used to seeing on the silhouette. Stay with us after the jump for the first official look at the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ and let us know if you can’t wait for their May 5th release date.

Air Jordan 4: Cavs New Photos

We’ve seen New Yorkers like Fabolous disregard the direct Cleveland Cavaliers connection in these upcoming Air Jordan IV’s, using them instead to rep his hometown Knicks. Will any Knickerbocker players themselves do the same with the post season rapidly approaching? We’ll have to wait and see on that, just as you’ll have to wait a few more weeks before you can get your hands on them. Click through for another look at the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ and let us know if you’re picking up once they arrive in the middle of May. Photos: CS

How perfect would it have been if these Air Jordan IV’s arrived just as the Cleveland Cavaliers were putting together a strong post season run? Unfortunately they’re about thirteen wins and one LeBron James short of that goal for this year, but the colorway should make waves nonetheless what with the historical significance embedded in the release. Stay with us after the jump for a more in-depth look at the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ and let us know in the comments if you’ll be picking them up come May 12th. Photos: h-leung on HK
