Michael Jordan Won His First NBA Title 23 Years Ago Today

The Air Jordan 6 is currently celebrating its 23rd anniversary, and besides the architecture of the shoe – one in which sneakerheads have praised since its inception thanks to the Porche inspired heel tab, alternating leather side panels and aerodynamic design – it is also the silhouette that Mike won his first championship in. Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the Chicago Bulls closing out the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5 of the 1991 NBA Finals to win their first NBA Championship. Mike carried his squad with 33 points along with 13 assists and 7 rebounds, a near triple-double. While we’ll have to wait for Black Friday to grab the Air Jordan 6 “Black/Infrared”, the shoe that MJ wore during the close out game, hit the click for full highlights of MJ clinching his first title and let us know where this ranks among Mike’s all-time accomplishments in the comments section.

Michael Jordan Plays Can Jordan Palm It on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Michael Jordan doesn’t make public appearances too often, which is why it’s always great to see him when we get the chance. He keeps most of his opinions about today’s stars to himself, although he would opt for Kobe Bryant over LeBron James at this point in time, but he recently was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! not to discuss any basketball related topics, but instead do a short comedic segment. The premise: present MJ with a number of items and see if he could palm them successfully in a bit called Can Jordan Palm It? Jimmy caught up with Michael, on a golf course of course, so stick with us after the click for the full sketch and stay tuned for more Michael Jordan news right here on Jordans Daily.

Michael Jordan’s Net Worth Now $1 Billion

Michael Jordans Net Worth Now $1 Billion

Michael Jordan is now worth over $1 Billion. Forbes made the announcement earlier today after they pegged his annual earning close to $90 Million at the beginning of this year. So how did MJ earn his fortune? Well, it didn’t necessarily come directly from playing basketball, but being the best to ever lace up a pair of signatures definitely played a roll in all of this. Kurt Badenhausen, Dean of athlete earnings at Forbes, found that Mike increased his stake in the now Charlotte Hornets nearly 10% within the last year to reach an 89.5% majority owner stake. And despite the Hornet’s current $135 million, which Jordan looks to change in the near future thanks to fielding a better team, increasing Jordan Brand sales and a plethora of new Hornets merchandise since the name change, he’s the newest member of the billionaire club. Congrats, Mike. What do you think of Michael Jordan joining the ranks of billionaire status? Stay tuned for more Michael Jordan news right here on Jordans Daily.

Michael Jordan’s Flu Game Was 17 Years Ago Today

Michael Jordans Flu Game Was 17 Years Ago Today

Earlier this year, Michael Jordan’s infamous Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” pair – the original pair actually worn in game and then given to a Utah Jazz ball boy after the game – (a story that involved pretzels and apple sauce in what could be the most lopsided trade in the history of fiending after sneakers) sold for around $104,000. Today marks the 17th anniversary of the game in which MJ may or may not have suffered from food poisoning instead of the flu. Mike would go on to score 38 points while playing through heavy dehydration to lead the Bulls to a 90-88 victory to take control of the series. Hit the click for full highlights of the legendary Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals and stick with Jordans Daily for all your MJ History.

Air Jordan 11: “Bred” – Game-Worn NBA Finals Autographed Pair

June 3rd, 2014 By

Air Jordan 11: Bred Game Worn NBA Finals Autographed Pair

We’ve seen a plethora of Michael Jordan autographed pairs over the years, but it’s a well known fact that the man’s favorite sneaker was his eleventh – a silhouette that almost didn’t happen if the MLB strike hadn’t led Mike to switch back over to basketball. He loved them so much that he broke them out against Tinker’s wishes in the 1994-95 playoffs, a year when the Bulls fell disappointingly short of their goal to the Orlando Magic. The next year the Bulls would clinch the best record in NBA history at 72-10 and faced off against the Seattle Supersonics in the Finals. Game 3 was a blowout thanks to Mike’s 36 points, and he did so wearing this exact Air Jordan 11 “Bred” pair. Grey Flannel Auctions got a hold of this rare find and they’re autographed in silver on the back heel. Get a better look after the click and head over to Grey Flannel Auctions today to put your bid in on this historic pair of sneakers.

Michael Jordan Shrugged Off Portland Trailblazers 22 Years Ago

Michael Jordan Shrugged Off Portland Trailblazers 22 Years Ago

One of the most memorable moments of Michael Jordan’s NBA Finals career came in his second straight trip the the game’s most coveted series against the Portland Trailblazers. While the Bulls were still seriously considered as a dominant team, nobody was calling them a dynasty after just one championship and the Blazers believed that they could contain MJ throughout the series. That proved difficult from Game 1, as Mike and the Bulls had home court advantage and number 23 scored an incredible 35 points at the half, scoring six first half threes. After the sixth one came the shrug as even Michael was in disbelief at his performance. The Bulls would go on to win in a blowout, 122-89. Get with us after the click for the full highlight of Jordan’s famous shrug as he got back on defense.

Upper Deck Releases 223 Michael Jordan Autographed Rookie Retro Jerseys

When Michael Jordan entered the NBA, it was hardly with the scrutiny that other star-caliber players do in today’s game. And while that’s partially due to the work that Mike put in during his legendary career that new players are analyzed so heavily, it’s always a nice nostalgic reminder when we see an apparel item hit market referencing Mike’s time in the 80s. Today we get word that Mike partnered with Upper Deck once again to release 223 authentic and autographed Mitchell and Ness jerseys from his rookie season (you  might notice that the look is a tad different than the Bulls jerseys today, as the number placement and arc was changed after MJ’s first year).
