Vintage Gear: Ticket Stub of Michael Jordans 69 Point Game

If you’re a Cavaliers fan (there’s still some out there, we’re positive) than you’re familiar with the efforts of Michael Jordan to time and time again cut short your team’s season in the 80s and 90s. The Central Division rivals got into some heated rivalries back in the day so it was only right for His Airness to record a career high in scoring against the team on March 28th, 1990 when he tallied 69 points. A little known fact about the night is that Jordan also recorded a double-double alongside scoring nearly 70 points by pulling down 18 rebounds. Today’s Vintage Gear is a relic from that game in the form of a preserved Cleveland Cavaliers ticket stub. And while the ticket isn’t even for face value of the game (at the time the ticket was worth $21.00) be sure to head to the gallery to get a glimpse of this piece of history stick with us after the click to view highlights of that historic night and know that you can grab this memorial to MJ’s career high in scoring today via team on eBay.

Michael Jordans Mom Disputes Authenticity of UNC Recruitment Letters

A few weeks ago news of Michael Jordan’s official transcript at the University of North Carolina along with his original letters of recruitment were found in an abandon storage unit and made their way to auction. Of the most interesting finds, a personalized note by legendary Tar Heels head coach Dean Smith was included (which may or may not have led to Michael Jordan’s enrollment at the University). It’s safe to say that if these rare pieces of MJ memorabilia are authentic, and at the time of the news they were deemed official, that they are set to be sold off for an exorbitant fee. Now, the documents have come into question by none other than Michael Jordan’s own mother, Deloris Jordan, claiming that the letters are replicas and that she has the official documents herself. Current bids for the diploma are at $8,250 while the letters from Dean Smith and Assistant Coach Guthridge range from $11,794 and $2,500 respectively. Hit the click to get a full synopsis of the situation via ESPN and let us know your thoughts on the potential counterfeiting of Michael Jordan documents in the comments.

Michael Jordan Wears AIr Jordan 13 “Black/Grey” PE

Michael Jordan Wears AIr Jordan 13 Black/Grey PE

Just as his squad is about to change its namesake, the Charlotte Bobcats are having one of their most memorable seasons under the name as they are in the midst of the playoff race in an Eastern Conference that’s always changing in the standings. A winning team means MJ is spending more time sitting courtside, whether that means he’s inclining for a return or just likes to be as close to his product as possible. Recently MJ hit up a home game and sat near the bench wearing an unreleased PE of the Air Jordan 13 that featured a black and grey scheme ont he upper while what looks like volt on the branding and midsole can just barely be seen. Whether that means that this pair will release in the future or not with a new school addition of the famed Nike color remains a mystery, but it’s always good to see what Mike is wearing so hit the gallery for a better look.

Air Jordan 11 Low: Cool Grey PE for Michael Jordan

The Air Jordan 11 Low was a huge success this past summer, proving that a lowtop of a classic Air Jordan can still prove to sell out at retail, and that patent leather strip definitely helped move things forward. With no word yet on whether the silhouette will return for 2014, would you grab a pair of a “Cool Grey” Air Jordan 11 Low if they ever hit retail shelves? While unlikely, it looks like this special pair reached Michael Jordan’s hands and seing as this silhouette is his favorite Jordan signature of all time, it isn’t surprising that one of the more notable colorways worked its way onto the low iteration. Hit the gallery for full images and let us know what you think of this Air Jordan 11 Low in the comments.

Vintage Gear: Air Jordan 1991 “Just Another Day at the Office” T-Shirt

Vintage Gear: Air Jordan 1991 Just Another Day at the Office T Shirt

“Just Another Day at the Office”… that’s how Michael Jordan approached the game of basketball with his work ethic. Be the first in the gym and the last to leave. And it always seemed to pay off when in 1991 he won his first NBA championship wearing the Air Jordan VI, grabbed his second MVP award, won the NBA Finals MVP award and was dubbed the Sportsman of the Year by Sports Illustrated. Although the shirt takes away the ‘Bulls’ on MJ’s shirt its strange that they’d give a shout out to the SI award (even though they don’t say it on the shirt). Featuring three MJs on the front on a black base, this t-shirt is definitely a worthwhile vintage pick up so hit the gallery for more images and grab it today via mamered2k6 on eBay.

Michael Jordans Air Jordan 12 Flu Game Pair Sells for $104,765

If you can remember, a couple of weeks ago the story broke that Michael Jordan’s original Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” pair worn during the Utah Jazz in that historic game when MJ battled sickness to score 37 points en route to a game 5 victory were headed to auction. Grey Flannel Auctions rolled out all of the stops to promote the the shoes, including releasing the original details about how the shoes were acquired by the Jazz ball boy (an interesting tale dealing with the specific request for some apple sauce). It looks like it paid off as the bidding started off at $5,000 and didn’t end there – as the auction closed the shoes would go to the highest bid of $104,765. What do you think of the final bidding price for the historic shoes?
