Michael Jordan’s Flu Game Was 17 Years Ago Today

Michael Jordans Flu Game Was 17 Years Ago Today

Earlier this year, Michael Jordan’s infamous Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” pair – the original pair actually worn in game and then given to a Utah Jazz ball boy after the game – (a story that involved pretzels and apple sauce in what could be the most lopsided trade in the history of fiending after sneakers) sold for around $104,000. Today marks the 17th anniversary of the game in which MJ may or may not have suffered from food poisoning instead of the flu. Mike would go on to score 38 points while playing through heavy dehydration to lead the Bulls to a 90-88 victory to take control of the series. Hit the click for full highlights of the legendary Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals and stick with Jordans Daily for all your MJ History.

Air Jordan 11: “Bred” – Game-Worn NBA Finals Autographed Pair

June 3rd, 2014 By

Air Jordan 11: Bred Game Worn NBA Finals Autographed Pair

We’ve seen a plethora of Michael Jordan autographed pairs over the years, but it’s a well known fact that the man’s favorite sneaker was his eleventh – a silhouette that almost didn’t happen if the MLB strike hadn’t led Mike to switch back over to basketball. He loved them so much that he broke them out against Tinker’s wishes in the 1994-95 playoffs, a year when the Bulls fell disappointingly short of their goal to the Orlando Magic. The next year the Bulls would clinch the best record in NBA history at 72-10 and faced off against the Seattle Supersonics in the Finals. Game 3 was a blowout thanks to Mike’s 36 points, and he did so wearing this exact Air Jordan 11 “Bred” pair. Grey Flannel Auctions got a hold of this rare find and they’re autographed in silver on the back heel. Get a better look after the click and head over to Grey Flannel Auctions today to put your bid in on this historic pair of sneakers.

Michael Jordan Shrugged Off Portland Trailblazers 22 Years Ago

One of the most memorable moments of Michael Jordan’s NBA Finals career came in his second straight trip the the game’s most coveted series against the Portland Trailblazers. While the Bulls were still seriously considered as a dominant team, nobody was calling them a dynasty after just one championship and the Blazers believed that they could contain MJ throughout the series. That proved difficult from Game 1, as Mike and the Bulls had home court advantage and number 23 scored an incredible 35 points at the half, scoring six first half threes. After the sixth one came the shrug as even Michael was in disbelief at his performance. The Bulls would go on to win in a blowout, 122-89. Get with us after the click for the full highlight of Jordan’s famous shrug as he got back on defense.

Mitchell & Ness Releases Michael Jordan The Shot Throwback Jersey

Earlier in the year, Mitchell & Ness announced that it planned to release a limited edition run of four different Michael Jordan throwback jerseys. February brought us the 1989 NBA All-Star game jersey (in which at the time, was celebrating its 25th year). Now, a day after the the 25th anniversary of Michael Jordan’s famous buzzer-beater over Craig Ehlo and the rest of the Cavaliers known simply as “The Shot”, the Philadelpha-based nostalgia company has released a short supply of a copy as close to the original as possible that Mike wore on the hardwood that fateful day in Cleveland. And even though Mike’s squad wouldn’t go on to win an NBA championship until two years later, this classic jersey is definitely worth a second look. Featuring a red away aesthetic, the back ‘Jordan’ name is stitched in all white (in contrast to the later versions that would match the rest of the lettering in black outlined in white).
