A Look at Michael Jordan’s 23 Game Winning Shots

August 7th, 2014 By

From the shot over Ehlo to just The Shot, Michael Jordan definitely had the clutch gene. Yesterday we were treated to a play-by-play comparison of Kobe Bryant imitating Michael Jordan’s moves. The resemblance was a little spooky and irrefutable evidence that Michael made a lasting impact on some of the game’s other greatest players. Like Michael, Kobe’s had his fair share of buzzer beaters and game sealing shots, but there’s nothing like the original. Michael Jordan had 23 of them throughout his 15 year career. Is it a coincidence that it coincided with his jersey number (imagine if he had stuck with 45 for the remainder of his career, he might’ve just had to make a few games closer than they needed to be). Hit the click to watch the full montage of Mike’s clutch gene and let us know which shot was your favorite in the comments section.

Kawhi Leonard Beats Michael Jordan in a Game of Hot Shot

August 6th, 2014 By

Kawhi Leonard became the first Jordan Brand Athlete to take home the NBA Finals MVP trophy since the man that coined the brand in this year’s Finals. This award will most likely come with a more featured role for the Spurs up and comer in the Jumpman’s lineup, and he already is starting to make appearances at the request of the man himself. During Michael Jordan’s summer camp, Kawhi came out to play a game of Hot Shot, teaming up with a camper to face off against Michael. While Leonard opted for a pair of what looks to be the debut colorway of the Air Jordan XX9, Mike kept things rather casual in the black and white Jordan Future. Watch the video below.

Michael Jordan VS Kobe Bryant – Identical Plays Comparison

August 6th, 2014 By

The influence Michael Jordan’s game had on Kobe Bryant is well-documented. Whether it be a young Kobe giddy with excitement trying to guard MJ during his first NBA All-Star Game or switching his number to one that was just one higher than Mike’s infamous 23, the competition between the two has always been instigated by Bryant. But could there be a Kobe Bryant without a Michael Jordan? Youtuber Youssef Hannoun recently did a play by play comparison of Kobe imitating Jordan’s moves to the point where it’s rather eerie. Check out the full video (as well as parts 1 and 2) after the click.

Michael Jordan Drains 11 Shots in a Row at Basketball Camp

August 5th, 2014 By

You know this story. Michael Jordan shows up in a basketball camp setting and seemingly puts on a clinic despite being in his more formidable years and a decade removed from lacing up his signature sneakers on the hardwood. There was the OJ Mayo incident, dunking as a 50 year old, and know he can boast that he simply doesn’t miss wide open shots. At his summer basketball camp he showcased his perfect form, muscle memory still intact as he went around to 11 different spots on the floor and made every shot, ending with a free throw that almost rolled out. Michael Jordan OK with LeBron Switching Back to No.23

July 29th, 2014 By

You may have already heard, but LeBron James is heading back to Cleveland. The biggest sports story of the summer doesn’t even involve a game actually being played, but instead leads to more and more speculation. The latest LeBron speculation had to do with his jersey number. While the current King of the NBA used to wear Michael Jordan’s number 23, he went on record before switching to the Heat letting everyone know that he thinks it deserved a league wide retirement. Apparently James changed his mind because he’ll don the number once again as a Cav for nostalgia’s sake. Michael Jordan recently spoke on the matter by saying, “I’m cool with it. I don’t own a number.” Do you think Mike’s jersey is still in need of a league wide retirement? Let us know in the comments section.

July 24th, 2014 By

Michael Jordan set a number of records in the NBA, but one that the business man in MJ is probably most proud of is garnering the most expensive contract in the league’s history – a record that still stands today. During the 1997-1998 season, Mike took home $33 million from one season of basketball, one that proved worth it as the Chicago Bulls brought home their 6th championship. The original contract is signed by Michael Jordan and the former Bulls general manager in Jerry Krause. According to ESPN, if you factor in inflation, that $33 million MJ made would be worth upwards of $49 million today. Hit the click for more info on this legendary piece of paper and head over to Heritage Auctions to start your bidding (that is if you have about $25,000 laying around).

Jimmy Jackson Learns Not to Trash Talk Michael Jordan while Wearing Air Jordans

July 8th, 2014 By

Kendall Gill knows something about Air Jordan sneakers. The man was ushered into the post-Jordan era of Jordan Brand and was one of the first players to be delegated a player exclusive thanks to the thought process behind the Air Jordan 10. Mike would end up returning to the league to play against players wearing his own sneakers which definitely caused some awkward scenarios here and there. While announcing an NBA Summer League game, Gill told a story about his then New Jersey Nets teammate Jimmy Jackson’s altercation with His Airness. While Jackson was beating up Mike in a particular game, he decided to start trash talking, (or “talk mess to Superman” as Kendall put it) but MJ had the perfect response: “you know, you’re talking a lot of stuff to have my shoes on.” While we don’t know the exact sneaker Jackson laced up, his former teammate would say that it was a model under the Jumpman Team category and not a signature.
