Whenever the ‘Motorsports’ theme bleeds over into the mainline Air Jordan releases you can expect quite a bit of fanfare. That certainly happened with this Air Jordan VI which originally appeared purely in PE form , causing some crazy high prices for them on the secondary market ahead of their retail release. back in 2010. The pair featured the Michael Jordan Motorsports logos on the back, the elephant print look down into the lining, and a clean tumbled leather application for the upper. Also unique to this release was the smoky brown outsole, a first for the Air Jordan VI. We told you a while back that Michael Jordan Motorsports was gearing up for Daytona 2012, and they did indeed show up clad in all sorts of special Jumpman goodies that you’ll probably never get your hands on. Fortunately we’ve got a high-res video recap though, giving you an inside peek at riders Roger Lee Hayden (who picked up a couple third place finishes on the weekend) and Ben Bostrom on the track and a sighting of MJ himself. Also spotted at 2:27 are Nike design honchos Mark Smith and Tiffany Beers (perhaps cooking up the next Air Jordan ‘Motorsports’ model?). In 2005, Jordan Brand celebrated its 20th anniversary with the release of the Air Jordan XX. Tinker Hatfield returned to the Air Jordan line for the first time since the Air Jordan XIV to work his magic on this commemorative model. Over 200 of Michael Jordan’s life experiences were captured on the XXs lasered strap. Michael’s moto racing team, Michael Jordan Motorsports, received a custom painted helmet that replicated the tapestry of experiences, but in greater detail. In addition to running Jordan Brand and the Charlotte Bobcats, Michael Jordan is also the owner of the Michael Jordan Motorsports racing team. We covered the racing team throughout their season, but today we have something that the sneakerheads might be interested in. In past years, Jordan Brand has commemorated special pairs for the Motorsports team one of which was the Air Jordan V. One of the racers for MJM had his motorcycle helmet custom painted to reflect the design of said Air Jordan V. The helmet accurately gets down the elements of the ‘Motorsports’ V from the color down to the side panel netting. The season for Michael Jordan Motorsports ended last month on a good note and they have much to look forward to when the next season begins. The racing team is parting ways with some of the Suzuki’s they’ve used in the past and are not street legal for those wondering as they’ve been modified for track use. The 2011 AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Championship finale has come and gone and the Michael Jordan Motorsports team of Ben Bostrom and Roger Lee Hayden finished the season on a high note. Roger Lee Hayden and Ben Bostrom of Michael Jordan Motorsports finished fourth and fifth respectively in the AMA Pro Superbike race at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. Hayden was disappointed to miss the podium but feels that the team is getting stronger every weekend. Bostrom who finished fifth is in sixth place in the Championship.
