Like the Wilson basketball poster we reminisced with, this Wheaties box made no bones about celebrating Michael Jordan‘s return to the NBA in spring 1995. Not a ton of creativity here – just paste in a debadged stock photo of MJ in a uniform doing a basketball move, add a bold and excited “Jordan’s Back!” overlay. Wheaties did provide the customer with a timeline of Jordan’s career highlights on the side, something of a refresher for the kids and moms who might’ve lost track of MJ’s life post 1993 retirement. Among the many Michael Jordan and Chicago Bulls covers on Wheaties boxes, this one stands out as a great little time capsule representative of all the companies who released special packaging to cash in, er, commemorate MJ’s comeback. If you want to remember some of the classic Wheaties MJ boxes, just skim eBay. Enjoy the pics and stay tuned for more Vintage Gear.
