Now that Jordans Daily has put you up on the official images of the Air Jordan XX8, we wanted to take you inside the unique experience crafted by the Jordan Brand team to debut the sneakers. The setting was midtown Manhattan, where eager members of the sneaker media huddled outside pondering what secrets were in store for them. On the inside Jordan Brand President Larry Miller was waiting, who eventually turned the floor over to long time friend of the brand Spike Lee. The man also know as Mars Blackmon then brought out another guest-Carmelo Anthony, that cornerstone of Jordan Brand athletes who has immediately come to mean so much to the city of New York. Following their chit chat, attendees were herded up several more floors in a freight elevator to where the true surprise awaited. What was that surprise? Hit the jump for the rest of our recap to find out.

The Air Jordan XX8 of course, the 2013 flagship model for Jordan Brand designed by Tinker Hatfield and Josh Heard. The model centers around a unique bootie design, zipping up for on-court coverage and then zipping back down for a more casual style. Hatfield and Heard swapped stories of the design process on stage, recalling the combat boot inspiration, Michael Jordan’s reactions to the model, and more. Then the flag-bearer emerged from the back-Russell Westbrook, proclaiming himself as the player to debut the slick sneaks at the December 3rd Oklahoma City Thunder game at the Barclays Center. Flip through our gallery for a full set of exclusive photos from the media-only invite and stick with Jordans Daily for even more coverage of the Air Jordan XX8.
