The Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’ and its odd release recently set the sneaker world on fire due to its limited nature and use of premium materials. The story of why the Air Jordan 1 was banned by the NBA is known by many but there are still a select few who have no clue as to why they weren’t allowed to be worn in game. Michael Jordan’s first signature shoe violated the NBA uniform code and as a result were banned. What was once an urban legend was confirmed via the letter from NBA Executive Vice President Russell T. Granik to Nike Vice President Rob Strasser written in 1985. The letter is currently on display in the Michael Jordan Building on the Nike Campus in Beaverton, Oregon. Check out the original NBA letter after the jump and let us know what you think about it.
